"Stand and Fight!"
The responsibility for where we are lies with me, our management staff, coaches and players. It does not lie with Brendan Shanahan or the NHL or the officials. It is not about luck. The responsibility for getting us out of it lies also with us… all of us doing it together.
We can’t change the first eight games, but we will stand and fight starting tonight. We will focus on being the best we can be today and then being better tomorrow.
- Scott Howson
You can read the rest of his blog post made today here. Scott Howson has made a call to arms. Jackets fans, and players especially, had better be listening. I know I am.
I will never give up on my team. I will never stop defending them.
Never stop fighting.
Even though we don’t have much to hold our heads up about right now I still have a lot of pride in my team.
I’ll admit, Howson’s post rekindled a smothering flame in my heart.
I’m excited for tonight’s game. Come on Jackets; prove to the world, or at least your own fan base, that you’re so much better than this.
I wanna say the punishment doesn’t fit the crime but…
We’d all be singing a different story if Clutterbuck had been badly hurt. And that isn’t something that is really in Wiz’s control nor is it in Cal’s.
The 8 game suspension stings, it does, and it’s no doubt excessive but I really hope that this prevents anything like this from happening in the future because I for one ESPECIALLY don’t want it to be because of a Blue Jackets player that a player on another team is brain dead or worse, dies.
We’ve had too many losses. We don’t need more because of something this stupid.
James Wisniewski suspended the rest of preseason and the first 8 regular season games
1. Cal Clutterbuck was not defenseless. He did, in my opinion, show intent, just not at the time that Shanahan pointed out. The video is blurry and covered by another player at one point but you can tell he saw Wiz and acted as if he knew what was coming. The boy milked it, that’s my opinion.
2. James Wisniewski shouldn’t have targeted his head. End of f*cking story. I don’t want anyone on my team becoming a goon and furthermore giving anyone reason to “make an example” out of our team.
I don’t want any more players, on my team or anyone else’s, having serious long term injury because someone wants to prove they have a bigger muscles than someone else.
Quit hitting people in the head on purpose. You’re not payed to be a douche, you’re payed to play hockey.
